A program to honor Catholic education by recognizing top high school religion students.
Academic achievement and spiritual development are hallmarks of Catholic Education. It successfully bestows on our youth a guiding set of principles, which becomes the lamp to light a path through life's experiences.
Fireside Catholic Publishing understands the important role that Catholic education plays. Now in its 24th year, the Fireside Essay Scholarship was created to recognize and reward students who have embraced religious education.
Just as the lamp was to the Ancients a symbol of enlightenment and religious fervor, we call upon this ancient symbol to represent the wisdom and knowledge to be derived through the Fireside Scholarship.
May this educational grant indeed provide a "light to my path."
What is the Fireside Scholarship?
The Fireside Scholarship was created to recognize top religion students in Catholic high schools.
Five $1,000 cash scholarships (U.S. dollars) are awarded annually.
Who is eligible?
Any student enrolled in a Catholic high school who is a senior in the 2013-2014 school year.
How to participate?
It's easy. Just select the student you think most successfully embraces his/her religious education. The application process is as follows:
Mail both student and faculty representative forms along with the student's essay (750 max words)
in the same envelope by December 13, 2013.
Other information
Criteria for selection includes outstanding leadership in embracing religious education. Financial need is not a consideration.
Each high school is limited to one applicant. Completed essays must be mailed no later than December 13, 2013.
Leaders in Catholic education will select five winners.
Judges are not affiliated with Fireside Catholic Publishing.
Winners will be announced in April 2014.
